How Did you Find your Craft Name?
MM,
I see as with many others I feel that my craft name found me rather than the other way around...lol. I did spend several weeks thinking about it, as did many others before me, im sure. I have always been fascinated by canines (dogs) in general and have had very close relationships with them. I was raised as an only child so my closest sibling was our dog J.C. who lived with me for 17 human years. With several companions to follow. I have been intrigued most by Wolves. And Silver remiinds me of the Crone phase, which i feel, and of insight and, wisdom. Lady for the Mother phase, which I am actually in, im a mother of 2 at age 28. All together this lead me to Lady SilverWolf. My fiancee bought me a pendant of a silver wolf shortly after my name was realized.
I wear it often when i need to feel secure, or need extra "help"
Blessed Be,
Lady SilverWolf

My craft name has come from several sources.
The first part "Geryon" is obviously the same name as the Gatekeeper in Dante's books.
It was given to me by a friend of mine about 10 yrs ago now back in the days when bulletin boards were still all the fashion and no-one had ever even heard of the Internet. I was in those days a Host for a mailing network and as such the "Gatekeeper" for all new applications to that network. I had another name with it which I still sometimes use but that is more for non-craft liaisons.
The second part of the name is a more recent add-on. Music has always been one of the major influences in my life and as I have a deeply nested love for Wolves one of my lyrics was boubd to be on the subject of a wolf. The song started out small but is now an epic story called "The Taele of the Whyte Wolfe". WhyteWolfe has since stuck on me like glue.
So now in the craft I am known as Geryon WhyteWolfe. My only objection has always been that people might mistake the name for a native american one and my roots are to be found in Europe not in the America's. But still the name feels right to me, as does the Taele of the Whyte Wolfe. Once finished I will upload it to witchs-brew so all can enjoy (I hope)

Merry Meet! I'm writing in response to the question of how I found my Craft name--well, the first part of it stems from the fact that it's my birth Sign--I'm a Virgo. I have also been into astrology since the fifth grade. The second part of it comes from the fact that I love cats and have been around them since the time I was born--not to mention the fact that my best friend was a cat! Put those two parts together and you have my Craft name, which is VirgoCat!
Blessed Be,
VirgoCat

I chose the name Silver Eagle I guess because of the Athame my x gave me. It has a silver eagle on it.
I used the name Silver Eagle for 8 years. However, my name was changed in a vision I recieved during
my daughter's dedication. I kept trying to keep Silver Eagle as my name for about a month after because
I liked it. But everytime I tried to say it, Star Eagle came out of my mouth. So, I'm Star Eagle.
It was as simple as that.

Needlespinner. Have had it for years . I'm a sewer and teacher so it was
a natural name for me. I'm also part native american which is another
reason why I keep it. My Mother (who is now 93) calls me her spider for
years. I feel it fits just fine. I sign all my works ,

My craft name I keep private and is known only to those close to me and in my "circles" of friends. My name wasn't just come up with because I thought it sounded cool or had a special meaning or referenced something. My first magickal name was given to me at birth and only certain members of my family knew the name & used it. Later upon first blood, I was given yet another magickal name by my great Aunt.
Later in my adulthood I began meditating on finding/discovering my magickal name. It came to me in a series of dreams. I wasn't accepting of it the first couple of times, I actually thought the dreams were pointing to someone else by that name. I guess I just wasn't listening to the signs. Later, after more dreams, I realized the dreams weren't about someone else, it was me. I did some numerology and the number matched me and I had this overwhelming sense of confirmation. It is very difficult to even put into words.
I chose my "online name" for the significance of meaning that it represents to me, and I liked the way it sounded.
Love & Happiness,

I believe that just like the ways the craft finds you, your craft name finds you as well..
At least thats how mine found me. I know that if you go looking for a craft name, you usually end
up satisfied, with a pretty or cool sounding name that sometimes doesnt seem to fit you. It happened to
my friend, he started with something like LightningDragon or something like that, (I forgot how to
say lightning in arabian but that part was Arabian)and he used Draco for the dragon part. It sounded
okay, but it didnt fit him very well at all. He was more sensitive and intuitive and cleaver than
lightning or a dragon. He dropped it within 2 weeks. He is now Crowfire. (True I was there->)One day
in the park a crow landed on his shoulder and jumped onto his head, then hopped down onto the ground,
looked at him, cawwed once, and flew away. His Astrological Sun sign is Saggittarius, of the Fire
element. So after a few weird dreams about fire and that crow, he accepted Crowfire as his new name.
His parents respect his religion (Which he is EXTREMELY lucky for, especially since they're both Christian.)
and call him Crowfire. My Craft name came to me almost entirely through dreams. It's Emerald Shadowhawk.
(I'm writing a book with wicca in it, look for me!! It'll be my first book!!)
