How much can you do for someone with a drug/alcohol abuse problem without violating their free will?
I would perform a ritual taking the angle of protecting their health, and asking that they make their own choices because of what they truly want to do, rather than because of a biochemical addiction. The addict's free will may be, in truth, very different to what they think they feel when in the throes of a craving.

Work for their healing...emotional, mental and physical. I had a consumnig drug and alcohol problem for five years, and never felt more sick or lost. You are not violating anyone's free will if you work spells for their own healing. That's one of the first things I did when I decided to get out of my former life.
