I hear everyday of loss and neglect.
A family in mourning, a happy home wrecked.
And I remember...
How lucky I am to be alive.
Granted the strength to go on and survive.
And I remember...
Those less fortunate than myself.
The homeless, the hungry, those in ill health.
And I remember...
Though it is humble, I still have a home.
I'm not living on the streets, forgotten and alone.
And I remember...
Everytime I see a mom and kids living in their car.
She looks at me and thinks, I wish I was where you are.
And I remember...
All the times I complained about having it rough.
Not grateful for having more than enough.
And I remember...
I need to be thankful for what I have got.
For there are those out there who need and have not.
And I remember...
The suffering I witness I can help to relieve.
To say that I cannot is selfish and naive.
And I remember...
Before I pass judgment, before I condemn,
That could be me instead of them.
